07 November 2007: Himalayan Dreams has been greeted very warmly by audiences at the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival KIMFF 2006. Muha, its star, spoke to an enthusiastic crowd and answered their questions. "It's simple but nice" was the general response to Club Hulhevi's Maldivian introspective on mountains. 01 November 2006: Himalayan Dreams has been officially selected by the prestigious Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF 2006) and will premiere in the Nepalese capital this December. More...

10 May 2006: A production outline for four short films called "Margins: Four Short Films from the Maldives" has been emailed to three of our customers. The project aims to produce four short films on issues affecting the country, in the hope of initiating dialogue and meaningful change.

1 May 2006: The Club Hulhevi team led a discussion on gender in the media at a UNFPA workshop, training young screenwriters and filmmakers. Hilath kicked off the discussions with a presentation entitled "Stereotyping in Unfunny Comedies", followed by Shari's "Body Parts". Al presented a section called "The Monstrous Feminine", while Yasir gave a talk on "Fighting Females". This highly-interactive presentation was co-ordinated by Narc.

27 April 2006: A preview audience aged 15-21 appear to have found Himalayan Dreams highly motivating. "After watching it I know I can achieve difficult goals too, like Muha, if I work hard", said one young woman. Participants of Youth Health Cafe's life-skills programme, they described Muha, the adventurer whose journey is depicted in the film, as "cool", requesting to meet him. They also praised the music of Himalayan Dreams. The film does not gloss over the hardships and risks involved in the trek, but the overall response among this group of people is: "We want to go to the Himalaya and see and experience all the things Muha did." Club Hulhevi will carry out a few more previews in the coming week or so.

9-11 March 2006: Three of our documentaries are screened in a film festival called "Untold Stories" jointly organised by UNFPA and the gender ministry to mark women's day. The overwhelming auidience turnout surprised everyone and the films had to be shown a further evening. Read more...
